Huge crowds awaited the opening of the Cluj Christmas Fair in the Main Square

The official opening of the Cluj Main Square Christmas Fair marked the beginning of winter, with thousands of visitors coming out to watch the festive lights being switched on and listen to the concerts. This year, however, the Main Square fair is not the only fair in the city, the so-called Winter Fair Day will also open from 1 December in front of the Horia Demian Sports Hall, giving Cluj-Napoca's citizens two venues to get in the mood for the holidays.

 

The official opening ceremony took place on Friday at 19 pm with the first concert sang by the Hungarian Children's Choir of Cluj, followed by the switching on of the lights. The crowds arrived before the opening, as anyone who wanted to get near the stage had to get there very early, as there were so many people at the fair that changing places was very hard. There were huge queues at every stall. For the rest of the evening, the Moldovan band Carla's Dreams performed, to the delight of the young people. The event was very popular between youngsters, locals, and foreign tourists alike, who were eager to enjoy the festive moment.
 

This year, the fair will again feature the traditional carousel and Ferris wheel, as well as the unique handcrafted products, foods, and drinks. As in previous years, the fair has the classic shops: chestnut sellers, Christmas tree decorators, handmade baubles, candle holders, decorated jars, crocheted toys, necklaces and, of course, chimney cakes and mulled wine. But there were also some very special items, such as plants and mini terrariums at one stand. This year there are more than 75 stalls in the Main Square, where visitors can buy delicious products from local producers.

 During the day, interactive activities are organized for children in front of the Christmas tree and in Santa's house, giving parents the chance to browse the products while their children listen to a story or play with the others. And in the evening, everyone can try out the carousel and the Ferris wheel, or even pet an owl.
 
The fair is open every weekday from 10 am to 10 pm until 31 December, and from 10 am to 11 pm on weekends. On weekends, there will also be performances by bands such as Kids Sing Academy and the Speak Floyd cover band. The Cluj Fair is one of those winter events where it's definitely worth spending a few hours, even if you're just looking, listening to music or getting in the mood for Christmas. However, it's important to avoid the busiest times of the day to enjoy the fair atmosphere. See you there!

Óriási tömeg várta a kolozsvári karácsonyi vásár megnyitását a Főtéren
 

A tél kezdetét jelzi, hogy hivatalosan is megnyitotta kapuit a kolozsvári főtéri karácsonyi vásár, amelyre több ezer látogató érkezett ki, hogy együtt nézzék meg, ahogy felkapcsolják az ünnepi fényeket és meghallgassák a koncerteket. Idén azonban nem csak ezt a vásárt lehet bejárni, hiszen rendhagyó módon a Horia Demian Sportcsarnok előtt az úgynevezett Téli vásárnap is megnyílik december 1-jétől, hogy a kolozsváriak két helyszínen is hangolódhassanak az ünnepekre.

A hivatalos megnyitóra pénteken 19 órakor került sor, a Kolozsvári Magyar Gyermekkórus lépett fel először, majd az ünnepi fényeket is felkapcsolták. A tömeg már a megnyitó előtt a helyszínre érkezett, hiszen aki a színpad közelébe akart kerülni, annak igencsak korán kellett kimennie, ugyanis annyian voltak a vásáron, hogy a helyváltoztatás nagyon lassan ment. Óriási kígyózó sorok álltak minden házikónál és pultnál. Az est további részében a Carla's Dreams moldovai zenekar koncertezett, a fiatalok nagy örömére. A rendezvény nagyon nagy népszerűségnek örvendett, fiatalok és idősek, helyiek és külföldi turisták is kíváncsiak voltak az ünnepi pillanatra. 
 
A központban idén is felállították a hagyományossá vált körhintát és óriáskereket, és nem maradnak el a már megszokott kézműves termékek, ételek és italok sem. A vásáron az előző évekhez hasonlóan fellelhetők a klasszikus boltok, gesztenyeárusok, vannak karácsonyfadíszesek, kézzel készített gömböt, gyertyatartót, adventi koszorút, díszes üvegeket, horgolt játékokat, nyakéket árulók, és persze a kürtőskalács és forralt bor sem maradt ki a kínálatból. Ugyanakkor megjelentek egészen különleges darabok is, egyik standnál például növényeket és mini terráriumokat is lehetett kapni. Idén több mint 75 házikó várja a Főtéren a látogatót, akik finomabbnál finomabb termékeket vásárolhatnak a helyi termelőktől.

Napközben interaktív foglalkozásokat szerveznek a gyerekeknek a karácsonyfa előtt és a Mikulás házában, így a szülőknek is lehetőségük van kicsit körbenézni a termékek között, míg a gyerek mesét hallgat, vagy a többiekkel játszik. Este pedig mindenki azt várja, hogy felülhessen a körhintára és az óriáskerékre vagy akár megsimogathassa a baglyot, idén ugyanis már állatokat is simogathatunk a karácsonyi vásáron, a tengerparti üdülőkhöz hasonlóan itt is bagollyal fényképezkedhetnek kicsik és nagyok, természetesen fizetés ellenében.
 
A vásár december 31-ig várja az érdeklődőket minden hétköznap 10 és 22 óra között, hétvégente pedig 10 és 23 óra között. Hétvégente zenekarok produkciói is színesítik a kínálatot, szombaton például olyan zenekarok lépnek fel, mint a Kids Sing Academy vagy a Speak Floyd cover-zenekar. A kolozsvári vásár egyike azoknak a téli eseményeknek, ahol mindenképpen megéri eltölteni néhány órát, még ha csak nézelődni, zenét hallgatni, vagy hangolódni megyünk is a karácsonyra. Fontos azonban, hogy kerüljük azokat az időszakokat, amikor a legnagyobb a tömeg, hogy zavartalanul élvezhessük a vásári hangulatot.
